Back to the Basics

A Return to Truth, what is good, beautiful and worthy of Respect.

In a world overflowing with distractions, social media, opinions, and constant comparison with the lives of others, we often find ourselves trapped in a race to catch up and outdo everyone else — a never-ending competition that leads to self-judgment and a lack of appreciation for what we already have and what is already good, it is easy to forget the simplicity of life’s truth. We are born, we grow, we create, and then we die. Our time on earth is brief — but what we build during it echoes through eternity. Legacy is not only about blood, but about the principles we pass down. To live rightly, we must return to the foundations that God and nature have set: faith, virtue, family, and service. As Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”

God designed life with order. Man and woman were created not in competition but in harmony — two parts of one divine design meant to preserve life, love, and virtue. Both are sacred: men are called to be strong, virtuous, protectors and providers; women are called to nurture, heal, and guard the heart of the home. Together, they reflect the image of God — strength with compassion, wisdom with grace. As Marcus Aurelius said, “Live in agreement with nature.” To live against our nature is to live in confusion. There is no virtue in being weak or ignorant, as Jordan Peterson once said — ignorance is not kindness, and weakness is not virtue. Truth and order are not restrictions; they are the foundations of peace, meaning, and freedom.

With freedom comes moral responsibility. We are called to live according to both nature and God’s Word — to respect the design He created. A man must never raise his hand against a woman, for strength was given to protect, not to destroy. And a woman must not give herself away to many, for her value is sacred and not measured by attention but by virtue. A man should respect a woman as he respects himself, and a woman should do the same — for mutual respect is the essence of love. When men abandon discipline and women abandon virtue, families collapse, and so does society. The Stoics taught that virtue is the only good, and Christ showed us that love is the highest virtue. True freedom requires order, and the cost of freedom is responsibility — responsibility to God, to others, and to the truth that defines us.
